Shinji Kagawa will be out of action for Manchester United for up to a month with an injured knee according to manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Japanese star, who has been one of the club’s best performers this season, suffered a knee injury in the first half of the Red Devils’ 3-2 win over Braga in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash.

United coach Sir Alex Ferguson revealed the length of Kagawa’s absence as well as the fact that the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder should have been withdrawn earlier.

“Kagawa is going to be out for three to four weeks,” Ferguson said.   “I think playing on didn’t help the situation although he did well to play on with it to be honest.”
